' I have actually found that books can carry children to another place.' Judith has been volunteering as a bedside reader at Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust since 2003. After retiring from teaching, Judith wished to continue to use her storytelling abilities to help kids who are inadequately. 'I had actually constantly taken pleasure in reading to the kids in school at the end of the day. You could see them noticeably relax and be taken in by the story. I believed this may also apply to children in healthcare facility. I volunteer on the kids's oncology wards in the health center. ' I attempted to turn off a bedside light and felt like something wasn't right with me. I understood directly away it was a stroke.' In July 2023, after an active vacation kayaking and walking, Bob suddenly had a stroke. He was zipped air ambulance to University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust, where he spent four weeks restoring. 'I used the fitness center often and did neurorehabilitation online (NROL)'. NROL is a group rehabilitation programme for individuals who have actually had a stroke or have other neurological conditions. 'I had a structured timetable which provided me something to eagerly anticipate weekly - socially, mentally and emotionally.' Bob thanked NHS staff for 'the great support' and the ongoing physiotherapy he received. Well done Bob and fantastic work team! Early acknowledgment of stroke symptoms can conserve lives. ' Working alongside nurses and seeing the distinction they made inspired me to believe, 'I might do that!" Meet Sharon, a sexual health nurse and non-medical prescriber who started her nursing journey in 1985 at the Royal Liverpool Teaching Hospital. In 2010 she signed up with Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust and continues to serve patients in Hertfordshire. 'I enjoyed assisting individuals and finding out about the body, so nursing simply felt right.' Sharon shows. Sharon has actually operated in male infertility, menopause, miscarriage and colposcopy among others, revealing the wide variety of areas in which nurses make a difference. 'Truly, I can't consider a location where nurses don't make an impact in some type,' Sharon confesses. On why her function is special, Sharon explains, 'The care, kindness, and empathy we bring make the nursing role distinct.
